Personal Consumer Research Expert
What you’ll do
Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in consumer research. As a Personal Consumer Research Expert, you’ll build long-horizon research tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls.
Expect to build scenarios across:
- Product research: shortlists that meet every stated spec and budget constraint, TCO calculations with ground-truth totals
- Service provider comparisons: insurance, internet, utilities scored against a defined rubric with documented winner
- Major purchase analysis: quote gathering against rules, negotiation angles against policy references
These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus.
Who we’re looking for
- 3+ years in product research, personal procurement, journalism/review writing, or adjacent roles
- Expertise in one or more of the following: product spec analysis, service provider comparison (insurance, internet, utilities), quote gathering and negotiation, TCO modeling
- Comfortable reading and producing research artifacts: comparison tables, shortlists, negotiation briefs, TCO spreadsheets
- Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
Compensation
$50–$65/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.
