1. Role Overview
Mercor is seeking seasoned legal professionals to support a cutting-edge project with a leading AI research organization. This short-term engagement involves evaluating and enhancing AI models’ legal reasoning across a variety of domains. Professionals will apply their legal expertise to assess and refine model-generated content, with a focus on Corporate (M&A), Criminal, Personal Injury, Tax, Environmental, and other legal areas. This is an ideal opportunity for experienced attorneys interested in flexible, project-based work at the intersection of law and technology.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Review and refine AI-generated legal outputs for accuracy and clarity across targeted practice areas
- Evaluate legal reasoning in M&A, criminal, personal injury, tax, environmental, and general legal contexts
- Create and assess prompts, model responses, and grading rubrics
- Collaborate with AI researchers to simulate real-world legal use cases and workflows
3. Ideal Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience practicing law, preferably with exposure to multiple domains such as M&A, criminal law, or tax
- J.D. from a top 50 U.S. law school
- Proven expertise in legal research, analysis, and writing
- Ability to distill complex legal issues into structured evaluation criteria
- Familiarity with digital tools and comfort working independently
