Controllership Expert

What you’ll do

Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in technical accounting and reporting. As a Controllership Expert, you’ll build long-horizon technical accounting tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls.

Expect to build scenarios across:

• External reporting: financial statements with defined tie-out numbers, consolidations that roll to a specified total
• Technical accounting: ASC 606/842/805 fact patterns with a documented correct conclusion and citation
• Policy and controls: SOX narratives with required control attributes, statutory packages with required fields

These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus.

Who we’re looking for

• BS or MS in Accounting; 5+ years in controllership, technical accounting, or external reporting
• CPA strongly preferred
• Expertise in one or more of the following: ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, consolidations, SEC reporting, SOX
• Comfortable reading and producing controllership artifacts: financial statements, technical memos, consolidation workpapers, control narratives
• Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics

Compensation

$90–$120/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.
