Contract & Commercial Expert
What you’ll do
Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in commercial law. As a Contract & Commercial Expert, you’ll build long-horizon contracting tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls.
Expect to build scenarios across:
- Drafting: MSAs/SOWs/NDAs/DPAs with required clauses and defined parameter values
- Review and negotiation: redlines resolving to pre-defined fallback positions per a playbook
- Post-signature work: obligation extractions with a ground-truth list, clause classification against a defined taxonomy
These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus.
Who we’re looking for
- JD; 3+ years practicing commercial/transactional law (in-house or firm)
- Bar admission in at least one US state (or equivalent foreign qualification)
- Expertise in one or more of the following: SaaS commercial terms, data protection (GDPR, CCPA, DPAs), IP and licensing, indemnity and limitation-of-liability structures, CLM tooling (Ironclad, Agiloft, LinkSquares, DocuSign CLM)
- Comfortable reading and producing contract artifacts: redlines, playbook entries, abstraction summaries, fallback positions
- Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
Compensation
$110–$150/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.
