Mechanical / Industrial Engineering Expert
What you’ll do
Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in mechanical engineering. As a Mechanical / Industrial Engineering Expert, you’ll build long-horizon engineering tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls.
Expect to build scenarios across:
- Design review: drawings and GD&T checked against a defect list, CAD models against specified dimensions
- Analysis: tolerance stack-ups with computable results, DFM/DFA reviews against a defined checklist
- Change management: ECOs with required fields, BOMs matching a target structure
These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus.
Who we’re looking for
- BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering; 3+ years in design, manufacturing engineering, or product development
- Expertise in one or more of the following: a CAD system (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Fusion 360), GD&T, a PLM system (Arena, Teamcenter, Windchill), a specific manufacturing process (machining, injection, sheet metal, additive)
- Comfortable reading and producing mechanical artifacts: 2D drawings, BOMs, tolerance analyses, ECOs, DFM reviews
- Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
Compensation
$75–$100/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.
