Management Consulting Expert
Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to engage experienced management consultants to improve AI systems’ reasoning around business strategy, organizational design, and executive decision-making. Contributors will apply their expertise in areas such as corporate strategy, operations improvement, due diligence, org transformation, and growth planning to evaluate and enhance AI performance on consulting-specific tasks. This is a project-based opportunity with potential for ongoing engagement depending on performance and project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate AI-generated outputs related to strategic frameworks, market sizing, competitive analysis, operational diagnostics, and executive recommendations
- Create realistic scenarios based on consulting workflows — case interviews, client workshops, hypothesis-driven analyses, workstream planning, and steering committee presentations
- Annotate, label, and validate data across management consulting use cases (e.g., market entry, cost transformation, post-merger integration, org redesign)
- Provide structured feedback on AI accuracy in areas such as strategy frameworks (Porter’s, MECE structuring, issue trees), financial analysis, and executive communication standards
- Collaborate asynchronously with research teams to refine evaluation frameworks for business strategy AI
Ideal Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience at a management consulting firm (MBB, Big 4 advisory, Tier 2, or boutique strategy firm)
- Background in one or more areas such as:
- Corporate strategy and growth advisory
- Operations and supply chain consulting
- Organizational design and change management
- M&A due diligence and post-merger integration
- Public sector and social impact consulting
- MBA or advanced degree a plus
- Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and ability to translate consulting workflows into evaluation tasks
- Clear written communication and attention to detail
Compensation Note
This project is expected to begin on an effective hourly rate, but will transition to a model where experts are compensated based on throughput of quality work rather than a flat accruing hourly rate.
